Born in Krefeld, Germany, in 1958, Eberhard Bons studied theology, philosophy and Romance languages in Mainz, Tubingen. Rome and Frankfurt (1977-1988). He obtained a Ph.D. (Univ. of Mainz, 1988) and a D.D. (Hoschschule St. Georgen, Frankfurt, 1993). In 2000 he was habilitated at the University of Strasbourg. Since 1995 he teaches at the University of Strasbourg (1995-2004 as Associate Professor and from 2004 onwards as full professor of Old Testament Studies). Since 2010 he is a co-editor of "The Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint" (www.htlseptuagint.com), together with Jan Joosten (University of Oxford) funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (2010-2014). In 2015, Eberhard Bons was elected member of the "Academia Ambrosiana," Classe di Studi sul Vicino Oriente, Milan.
